Even as an embryo
“The day before our creativity evening, I felt God saying that He loved me even when I was just an embryo, a blob of cells. Even when I had no form and nobody knew I would exist yet, He loved me fully and celebrated my life. This is significant to me as I was technically unplanned, and my mom could supposedly not get pregnant again. Even before anybody had a say or thought over my life, God had wonderful ones over it. The evening’s theme of “I am a child of God” was a perfect fit, as I could reflect on these thoughts, which are truly too high for me! I chose to write out the words of Psalm 139 in the form of a baby in the womb, as a reminder of His mark on my life from the beginning. How truly amazing is His love!”

“This picture was inspired by watching our neighbour’s toddler splashing barefoot in a puddle in our Close of houses. It was a dreary cold winter’s day, but he was having the time of his life. Then the subject of creativity was adoption by God, so I felt it was appropriate.“

Words on picture: ‘Jesus said: I am in my Father and you are in me and I am in you and the Holy Spirit will be in you (John 14)’
“I often meditate upon/ponder the words of Jesus re the relationship between the members of the Holy Trinity, particularly as expressed in John 14.
I don’t think that this really helps me to understand with my mind, but I believe that as we consider such mysteries in Scripture, we are drawn more deeply into them, and, especially in the case of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, are drawn closer in our relationship, becoming involved in this ‘mystical dance!’“

“During the creativity time I read Psalm 73:23-26 and verse 23 really touched me –‘I am continually with you; You hold me by your right hand’. I drew around both my hands and wrote this on them. This truth really has deeper reality in my life now, thank you Lord.”

“The piece came after reflecting on what it means to be ‘Chosen’ and reading a number of scriptures that speak of us being Chosen by God.“

“I was struck afresh by God’s unconditional love for us and the hard to comprehend truth that we are His children and He is our Father. I did a little sketch of a child looking up to their father, and as I was colouring in I felt this truth going deeper – I am a child of God.”
‘See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is what we are!’ 1 John 3:1a

Above All Else
“As I reflected on the prayer for the year that was shared, I got stuck at the part that said, “We ask that You will turn our hearts to deeply desire You above all else.” I realised that, more than His protection or provision or guidance, I need Him! His presence, and His spirit, above all else! I want to pursue Him above every thought, need or any dream that He has placed in my heart. Above all else!”
