He Came
He came to take away my sorrow
He came to take away my pain
He came to take away my hurts
He came to take away my distresses
He was despised and rejected on my behalf
Why do I not live in the knowledge of this?
O CROSS
O Cross – dark, cruel instrument of agony –
drawn out suffering,
bone-shattering, body-weakening,
breath-restricting,
blood-draining, mind-clouding, will-weakening,
faculty-destroying, character-irradicating, personality-obliterating,
DEATH-DEALING.
BUT ALL FOR YOU AND ME.
Through His downfall, we are lifted,
through His pain, ours is taken,
through His tears ours are dried,
through His cries, ours are changed to laughter,
through His brokenness, we are made whole,
through His blood, we are forgiven.
His sacrifice for my salvation,
His despair for my hope,
His life-giving for my life-receiving,
His self-offering to break the curse.
‘Jesus with us in the storms of life’
The waves crashed,
The wind blew,
Terror filled those with You.
The boat churned
In the middle of the sea.
Rain poured down
Incessantly.
The noise was intense.
The wind’s power was strong.
The journey was taking far too long.
The twelve were wet,
Soaked to the skin,
Deafened by the dreadful din!
Lord, save us!
The disciples cried.
Help us, we are going to die!
But, You, Lord, slept
Peacefully.
Seemingly unaware of the raging sea.
What is the matter?
Why do you fear?
Do you not know that I am here?
Trust me now and you will see
My power over wind,
Storm and sea!
Peace be still!
The Master commanded
And all was quiet just as He demanded.
Who is this?
It is our Saviour and Lord!
Master over His created world!
Lord, thank you,
That victory is Yours.
So peace and calm can be restored.

You are there!
Close to the baby needing care.

Whether happy or sad,

You see, you understand the joy and the pain,
The tears and the laughter again and again.
You’ve been there and done it, you have the scars!
On hands and feet and in Your heart.
For us, You love and You care
Even when we don’t realise that You are there.
Whatever we do, whatever we say
Whatever we think or when we try to run away
You hold us close in Your loving arms
Ensuring our safety, keeping us from harm.
There is no place that we can hide from You,
You share in everything we do.
When we fall You lift us up
Dust us down because of the gift of Your cup.
You cleanse us, forgive us, bless us and provide
All that we need to live our lives.
Lord, help us to love and trust you more,
Day by day You to adore.
Teach us to listen and keep our eyes on you
Knowing Your presence in all that we do!
